The act of smoking a cigarette has a lot of connotations for myself.

Through the chosen medium, I wanted to express the emotion of “relief” and “unease” visually and audibly.

Consumption of nicotine immediately signals the brain with euphoria and a rush of adrenaline that stimulates the body. But as soon as the cigarette burns out, the uneasiness kicks back in since I would have to link back to society and to the relationships that I have formed around myself. Because of the uneasiness that I feel after smoking a cigarette, I tend to interlink myself back to the social media platform after I smoke, and by formulating the piece with the dimensions of a selfie portrait I wanted the viewer to explicitly know that they are currently located in a virtual setting.
